Longhorn Beetle

Unidentified Cerambycidae

Description:

Coleoptera; Cerambycidae; Unidentified Cerambycidae. The Wikipedia article on Longhorn Beetles mentions the origin of the scientific name Cerambycidae; " The scientific name of this beetle family goes back to a figure from Greek mythology: after an argument with nymphs, the shepherd Cerambus was transformed into a large beetle with horns.". This takes me back to my early high school days when I was first introduced to Greek Mythology, but as I remember it, Cerambus was turned into an "UGLY" beetle with horns. and my first photo above absolutely personifies that.

Habitat:

This healthy and robust looking beetle was spotted behind our house on a Hyacinth Bean (Lablab purpureus) locally called Bataw.
