A species of praying mantis found in Australia. Both males and females are capable of flight. The Purple-winged Mantis has varied diet consisting mainly of other insects, however, they have been seen eating much larger animals such as small frogs, lizards etc.

Hi Mark. I've been leaving the light on over the sliding glass door so I can watch the moths. These have be coming to the light as well. It's been a strange year.
Wow that first shot is in-your-face. :-) Well done. Nice to see these guys but as you say they can signify 'clean-up' time at the end of a season. Our season has been so bad I don't even expect to see these.
