Green Foxtail Grass

Setaria viridis

Description:

A clump-forming summer annual with a seedhead that resembles a fox's tail. Leaf blades may reach 12 inches in length and 5-15 mm in width. The seedhead reaches 6 inches in length. Characteristic foxtail-like seedhead and leaves with no hairs, which helps to distinguish this weed from both Giant Foxtail and Yellow Foxtail.

Habitat:

Roadsides, ditch banks, fields, pastures, cropland, orchards, vineyards, gardens, and other disturbed sites.

Notes:

One of the many invasive grass species.
