"Banana Slug" loosely refers to three species of slug. All similar, with slightly different colors, length, color pattern.
Interesting fact: These suckers will excrete a thick mucus when in danger from their skin. The mucus has numbing properties (a problem for predators when they are trying to shallow one of these guys), and if you gently stroke the back of a banana slug, then touch the resultant slime to your tongue, you can experience this numbing effect (similar sensation to Orajel).
