Silver-Spotted Skipper Butterfly

Epargyreus clarus

Description:

Family: Hesperiidae. Large common skipper. Wingspan 4.3 - 6.7 cm. Golden brown. Very hairy. Translucent gold spots on forewings. Silvery bands on hindwings.

Habitat:

Open Woodlands into meadow next to a large lake.

Notes:

Saw 10 on a hiking trail and another 4-5 in a meadow. This was just at the beginning of the meadow from the woods.
