Sisyrinchium sp.

This is definitely genus Sisyrinchium, and I believe the species to be nashii (syn. are in the "Tags") based on the purplish tinge in the spathes are only on the margins.

Native to southeastern US. Sandy, rocky, or rich soil, upland pines, rich deciduous lowland woods, pine-oak woodlands.

Notes:

Spotted in a grassy field near the detention/retention pond in an office building complex in Kennesaw, GA Add'l ref: http://uswildflowers.com/detail.php?SNam...
