Anhinga anhinga
The anhinga is a cormorant-like bird that is sometimes called the snakebird because of it's long neck and distinguishable swimming style: with only it's neck and head above water. Anhingas are often confused with cormorants because of their similar appearance and behaviour (such as the statuesque pose of drying out of wing feathers), but can be differentiated most easily by their pointed bills and longer tail feathers.
This anhinga family was seen in the Wakodahatchee Wetlands in Florida, where many bird species such as the anhinga, great blue heron, tricoloured heron, little blue heron, great egret, snowy egret, cattle egret, and wood stork share swamp islands during nesting season.
