Description:

This is a long-legged wader with a long, straight bill The body is a grayish brown above and just a shade lighter below. In flight, this rather drab bird shows beautifully white and dark patterned wings when flying.

Habitat:

I photographed this willet in a wetland in Quivera National Wildlife Refuge in Kansas. They were frequenting prairie pothole wetlands and the shores of lakes.
