Mantisfly

Eumantispa sp

Description:

amazing insect that fits its common name perfectly, looks like part large fly and part preying mantis

Habitat:

tropical rainforest

Notes:

I was so happy to see this mantisfly near the washrooms in Tawau hills park. I had only seen one other in Java, but only got one not so good photo of it before it flew off. This felt like a second chance. This one was on the ceiling so was difficult to get a very close shot. I stood on a chair and zoomed in as close as I could.

Your photo turns out good though.
