Description:

Subspecies Apis dorsata breviligula Maa has Philippine distribution. It is a huge honey bee with length of about 2 cm, spotted nectaring on Asystasia gangetica (Creeping Foxglove). Apis dorsata is a giant honey bee of South and Southeast Asia mainly in forested areas.

Habitat:

Untended open space near hot spring resort houses.
