Yes it does have a bit of stem and began a nice purple before a few days past.I will trust that it is Panus rudis and not worry so much about the children touchin' it, now that i have learned that it may be eaten without consequence. Thank you, gully.moy for the ID.

Could be Phyllotopsis nidulans or if it had a bit of a stem, perhaps Panus rudis
