White Ball? (fungi)

Description:

White ball on white thick stem, ball covered with raised nodules of varying size & shape, ball measured approx. 80mm across. Checking exact ID so would welcome suggestions. New photos show this species opens out to a more mushroom shape some the size of dinner plates, with gill arrangement underneath, colour does not change, stays white, yellows & browns as it disintegrates.

Habitat:

Dry woodland environment emerging after heavy rains one week earlier, close to dam in line of water runoff from higher ground & under trees in thick leaf litter, area all around this species smells damp, earthy & very mushroom like!

Notes:

Apparently the fungi is providing a feast for animals such as Ruffous Bettongs & some wallabies, as the fourth photo shows.
