Coral Slime

Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa

Description:

An interesting organism, it took me a long time to look into the right (I hope it is right?) direction for the ID... White plasmodium of various sizes, producing these small 'fingers' or thread like organs - it vaguely ressembles an anemone...

Habitat:

Found inside the stump of a dead tree - stump itself about 1m to 1,2m in diameter, about 3m in height; and standing but well decayed - most of its insides was gone or crumbling (pic N° 6). The stump was observed few times during this last autumn, and is located in a mixed forest (oak, birch, spruce and fir) on a rolling hills at the feet of Jura range.
