Trillium catesbaei
I was surprised to find this lovely wildflower near the Little Brown Jugs and crane fly orchid - afterall, this isn't in deep woods, this is in a wooded area in an office complex.
Found in the southeastern United States. Like most trilliums, it prefers moist, humus-rich soil in shade. Its northern limit includes the Great Smoky Mountains and other parts of North Carolina and Tennessee.
Spotted in the woods around a detention/retention pond in an office building complex in Kennesaw, GA
