Lepilemur leucopus
An arboreal, nocturnal lemur found in southern Madagascar; body length 46-52 cm plus tail 21-26 cm. Eats mostly leaves of tamarind and some euphorbias plus various vines. Relatively inactive due to slow metabolic rate required to digest cellulose in diet; also may redigest faeces to help break down cellulose. Produces 1 young between Sept-December. Moves through forest by vertical clinging and leaping from branch to branch/trunk.
Found in dry spiny forests and gallery forests in Southern Madagascar.
