Hypanus americanus
Inshore, usually found in shallow water (to 80 feet) lying partially buried on the sandy bottom or gliding just above. This juvenile was found in sea grass bottom of a public beach with large patches of sand.
Snorkeling around in the shallow sea grass of a local beach, I came across this young Stingray partly buried in the sand. I have seen yellow stingrays here before but never a southern stingray. It was a small young one about the size of a dinner plate.
