these leaf beetles normally are found on ridge gourd plants ! Could it be an Aulacophora sp. like this ? http://www.flickr.com/photos/xx_chaton_x...
Leaf beetles are very host specific and the plant leaf species that it is on will give you important information about its species. A similar looking, but not identical species is shown here feeding on Elm tree. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/183...
