Yellow-bellied Watersnake

Description:

Dark olive-black body with distinctive yellow belly and strongly keeled scales.

Habitat:

Found on forested road through swampy backwaters of Reelfoot Lake

Notes:

Musked and flattened its head when caught on the road. It was safely released unharmed just off the road after a few quick photos.
