The flowers on this parasitic plant are hemaphrodite, parasitic mostly on Hazel and Elm. It flowers between May and August and its seeds are widespread but often interbred.
seen in woodlands at the side of the river Eden in Appleby in westmorland.
part of its latin name means 'to strangle'
