Ravenel's Bolete

Pulveroboletus aff. ravenelii

Description:

Caps about 50 mm across. These mushrooms had a flat but slightly undulating caps which were a pale yellow with tinges of orange and rust-red. The pore surface was yellow with angular pores. Remnants of the veil were seen as shredded membrane stretching from stipe to the underside of the cap but these appeared white. The stipe was a bright yellow and thick and bruised green very quickly.

Habitat:

Spotted growing in a small colony in a eucalypt forest. The area was recently burnt by a grass fire. Occurence in Australia http://bie.ala.org.au/species/PULVEROBOL...

Notes:

These are said to be uncommon in Australia and are occasionally seen in eucalypt forest. I am hoping that someone can confirm this ID. Family: Boletaceae
