Anamorphic cup fungus

Chromelosporium sp.

Description:

White crystal-like growths developing from a jelly-like, almost colourless base. The minute structures seemed to branch but didn't look like they had 'head' structures which might provide spores.

Habitat:

Regularly appearing over many different substrates in a recently burned part of a local nature reserve.

Notes:

?Chromelosporium fulvum
This nature reserve caught fire about six weeks ago. It was mostly the understory stuff that burned leaving very charred earth and blackened trunks on the eucalypts. As we watch the re-growth it's interesting the order in which things come back. Yet to research this white stuff... if it's a slime mold then it's one I haven't seen before.
