Discophlebia (♀)

Discophlebia sp.

Description:

A strange looking stub moth about 32mm long. This group do a good job of imitating a broken twig.

Habitat:

In a local nature reserve adjoining a large, eucalyptus dominated national park.

Notes:

There are only eight Oenosandridae species and six of those are found in Victoria. This one matches Peter Marriott's undescribed 'Discophlebia sp.' (1) in 'Moths of Victoria' part 2. (sorry no underwing shots)
