This jack fruit is not so common.
Well slightly, they're both in the Family Moraceae. But for general advice only (not directed at you), there are so many organisms that look alike but which are unrelated that it's always best to check out before assuming. :-)
Looks almost like an Osage orange. Are they related?
yes. Jackfruit, A. heterophyllus, fruit on the trunk (cauliflora). Never saw an A. altilis with fruit there.
Thank you Leuba and Scott for the confirmation. Thank you Venus.
I will be visiting !
I have both in my yard :-)
You're right, Scott. My mistake. The leaves do look different. This is some species of Artocarpus, probably A. heterophyllushttp://www.flickriver.com/photos/maurogu...There is some confusion though, my first link lists this as being A. altilis (breadfruit) !!Thanks for the correction. I must read more about this genus - nice fruit/veg !
It's a very breadfruit like Jackfruit, I'll give you that, so round! But the leaves give it away.
This is a breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) - one of my favourite vegetables, when curried.http://knowandenjoytropicalfruit.com/cha...Need to check species ID.
