Venezuelan Red Howler Monkey

Alouatta seniculus

Description:

The red howler is a South American species of howler monkey, a type of New World monkey, found in the western Amazon Basin in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil

Notes:

Another one of the 7 primate species I was able to view in the wilds of the amazon during my stay in Yasuni National Park. The Red Howlers are a very loud and territorial monkey that call throughout the days. The howl of the alpha male can travel for extremely large distances.
