Giant Clam

Description:

Enormous Clam, filtering the water. This was a whitish version. In the first 3 pictures you can see its gills which are visible through the inhalant siphon, while the exhalent siphon is tube-like (picture 4,5 ) and is capable of expelling a large volume of water during spawning, or if the giant clam’s shells close suddenly.

Habitat:

Lembeh Strait, Sulawesi, Indonesia

Notes:

This was the first time I had a possibility to look "inside" the Clam. Isn't it gorgeous?

Thank you all. Yes Mark your right! Sorry I did not take one at the time. I think I was overwhelmed with the view 'inside"
Here is a link to a page on the net with some more - gorgeous - pictures.

It looks amazing. Not being a clam expert I wonder what parts I am looking at. Maybe a shot of the whole thing would help ?
