Bridled Goby

Coryphopterus glaucofraenum

Description:

Spotted in relatively shallow water (1-2 m) in a sandy coral rubble area of the Caribbean. In these sandy areas these fish are usually transparent and unmarked like the one spotted, but in grassy or rocky areas they tend to show markings. Average size in 3-6 cm with a max of about 8 cm. This one was around 5 cm.

Habitat:

Clear white sandy areas near deep reefs and grassy and rocky areas. Range includes Florida, Bahamas, Caribbean, NW Gulf of Mexico, also N to North Carolina, Bermuda, and S to Brazil.
