17-19cm A migrant bird to the UK arriving mainly in April. Most have left Britain by early November. Autumn migration is broad including crossing the Sahara Dessert. Most birds moult whilst in Africa A brood of Swallows needs to consume 6000 flies a day to survive

Habitat:

Frequents open countryside both upland and lowland areas
