A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Agapostemon virescens
small green solitary bee
flowers
This bee can sting, but does rarley, and only females sting. It is called the sweat bee because it is attracted to body fluids. This bee nests in holes in the ground and lives by itself. Although it visits flowers for pollination, it does not make wax or honey. They dig tunnels in soil, then they pack pollen into the nest to feed their larvae.
