Ruby-throated Hummingbird

Archilochus colubris

The male has an iridescent green back and head with a pale belly. The throat usually looks black unless the light hits it right, then it shines bright red.

This guy, another male, and 1 female are now frequent visitors at my feeder :)

Well I'm rooting for the other male, there is plenty of food for them both and they can all share lol

Have to fight to live, securing a food source ensures survival. Mr.Ruby over here doesn't like anyone stealing his food.

One of the males is a bully! Of course he lets the female come, but when the other male comes he chases it off. The bully goes and sits on some branches on the back side of the tree, "protecting" the feeder, while the other male comes up and drinks away unseen. Makes me laugh!

I see I'm not the only one getting 2 males and a female!(:
