Cinquefoil

Potentilla

Description:

I know this is a type of Potentilla, but I'm not sure of the species. The flowers and leaves look very similar to Potentilla glandulosa, but it grew very close to the ground and not on tall stalks.

Habitat:

This was spotted alongside Rock Creek in Inyo County, California on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Approximate elevation was just above 10,000 feet.
