White-crowned Sparrow

Zonotrichia leucophrys

Description:

A lovely sparrow with striking black and white markings on the head, a light gray to light brown breast, and varying colors of brown on the wings, Zonotrichia leucophrys, the White-crowned Sparrow is closely related to Zonotrichia albicollis, the White-throated Sparrow, but the two are best distinguished by the yellow near the beak on Zonotrichia albicollis.

Habitat:

Picking food out of the gravel on a trail.
