Southern Flannel Moth

Megalopyge opercularis

Description:

An adorable fuzzy moth, 1.5 cm long. Family: Megalopygidae. It is also called the Puss Caterpillar Moth, the larva are furry with stinging spines hidden among all the hair.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light in the garden, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
