ballhead waterleaf

Hydrophyllum capitatum

Description:

I found this ballhead waterleaf along the path to Ross Falls in the Sawtooth National Forest. It has a distinct leaf and the flowers are located beneath them so it is very easy to miss.

Habitat:

This ballhead waterleaf was found growing near chokecherry, serviceberry, arrowleaf balsamroot, yarrow and stinging nettle.
