Description:

It usually feeds on plants in the genus Prunus. Flight time is between April and July, size is 56 - 68 mm , and is normally found an altitudes of 500 - 2 000 m. Caterpillars live communally on uncut branches of the foodplant at first, before dispersing in the later developmental stages to other parts of the tree.

Habitat:

It is found in orchards and bushes throughout most of Europe, North America, temperate Asia, Korea and Japan.
