Orchid Dupe Wasp

Lissopimpla excelsa

Description:

This bright orange flower wasp is so named because an orchid flower (Cryptostylis subulata) mimic the odor and appearance of female Lissopimpla wasps. The male Lissopimpla wasps mistake the flowers for females and then pollinate the orchid.
