Hypobapta Moth - male

Hypobapta sp.

Description:

This moth was very similar to Hypobapta tachyhalotaria in my previous spotting http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/253...
There were some differences; this moth was slightly smaller (reported wing span 30 mm). The black lines on the wings varied slightly. The black line near the wing base was slightly thicker and the one bordering the submarginal area was straighter. Also, the brown markings were more definite in this moth. Antennae were feathery.

Habitat:

Spotted under bright lights ( train station) near a national park.

Notes:

The moths in this genus rest with the wing tips pressed against the surface of whatever they are on. The body is raised displaying a thickly setae-covered thorax. The abdomen shows black bands.
Peter Marriott says: "This would have to also go into H. tachyhalotaria. Until the mainland species are sorted out the ones that were in percomptaria have been placed there for the time being. It isn't difundens or barnardi" Family: Geometridae Subfamily: Geometrinae
I have no reference for this at present. It was previously incorrectly identiifed as H.difundens
