chrysolina polita
looks like a metallic ladybird on first glance in both shape and size. A beautifully metallic red colour with a bluey green head and abdomen. The forewings when closed form an approximately equilateral triangle on the upperside.
found on the edge of meadows at Sprotborough flash, a natural reserve owned by the Yorkshire wildlife trust.
see reference for clearer views of metallic surface.
