Lerina Blue-Skipper

Pythonides lerina

Description:

small black butterfly with thick iridescent blue band

Habitat:

tropical rainforest, amazon

Notes:

Another amazing butterfly I spotted at Canalendres. I was hoping to post this with an ID but I have search learnaboutbutterflies.com and I can't find a match. My last 500 spottings have been from my 2012/13 trip to Colombia and Dominica, with about 100 spots from Dominica and the rest from Colombia. Stay tuned as I still have about 500 more spots from this trip! Spotting #2000!!!!

Thanks Ashley and thanks J for your very kind words! Glad I could be of inspiration. Maybe our paths will cross one day in the tropics.

Thanks bayucca, now I have a name for #2000. The one in the link is in pretty rough shape, eh.

Yeah, very similar Juan. I did see your species on learnaboutbutterflies.com but couldn't find this one.

This skipper is very similar to one I spoted some months ago, I guess they are the same genus, at least. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/171...
