Golden-backed Snipe Fly

Chrysopilus thoracicus

Description:

"[Snipe Flies (Rhagionidae)] are medium-sized or large flies with slender bodies and stilt-like legs. The mouthparts are adapted for piercing and many species are haematophagous as adults, while others are predatory on other insects." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhagionidae...

Notes:

The first is female; The second (terribly blurred - sorry!) with much larger eyes and narrower abdomen is male.
