Other names for this colorful duck include painted duck, rock duck and glacier duck. The male is the more colorful (and is featured in these photos). The less colorful female can be seen in the background of the second photo.

Habitat:

Cold, fast moving water. Locally, they can be found along the jetty of Barnegat Light.
