The bolete eater

Hypomyces chrysospermus

Description:

Just when you think you've seen a large bolete species you notice that it seems to have a complete coat of white paint. Inside the bolete has been reduced to a black mush with some yellow goo mixed in for good measure.

Habitat:

Open dry eucalyptus dominated plantation on highway median strip.

Notes:

Well, we've seen they attack live insects sometimes, and now their own kind. This is getting close to cannibalism!
