Coyote

Canis latrans

Description:

A beautiful grey coyote still wearing a full winter coat.

Habitat:

Yellowstone National Park, WY, USA

Notes:

When I first saw this guy in the distance, I thought it was a wolf because he looked so good. As he got closer it was obvious that he was far too small, but a beautiful coyote regardless. He ended up walking within two feet of me as he crossed the road.

You could be right Emily . . . I remember thinking it was male, but I didn't get quite close enough to check ;).

I thought it was a wolf at first glance of your pictures too! What a good looking coyote! Almost looks like it could be a pregnant female.
