Snowy Egret

Egretta thula

Description:

A small, active white heron, the Snowy Egret is found in small ponds as well as along the ocean shore. Its black legs and yellow feet quickly identify it. It has a dark bill.

Habitat:

The Snowy Egret is the smaller bird in the lower right of the snag. It is sitting with two larger Great Egrets, who are preening. The snag is directly across a large pond from the photography blind. Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge: http://www.fws.gov/refuges/profiles/inde...
