Snowy Egret

A small, active white heron, the Snowy Egret is found in small ponds as well as along the ocean shore. Its black legs and yellow feet quickly identify it. It has a dark bill.


The Snowy Egret is the smaller bird in the lower right of the snag. It is sitting with two larger Great Egrets, who are preening. The snag is directly across a large pond from the photography blind. Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge:
