Whip Coral shrimp

Pontonides unciger

Description:

A Tiny shrimp that hangs out on Whip Corals. They come in about as many colours as the corals they hide in, so the camouflage is pretty expert. And being only around 1 cm (0.4 in) long, they're VERY hard to find. They have a wide diet, including the same tiny plankton the coral eats, algae and the coral's own, itchy parasites.

Habitat:

Whip corals , coral reefs

Notes:

Often found on whip corals, difficult to see as the mimic the host colours. Very small this one was +/- 8mm in length Links: http://www.divephotoguide.com/underwater...
