Gilled Bolete

Phylloporus rhodoxanthus

Description:

A large brown solitary mushroom about 200 mm wide. The cap margin was slightly inrolled, undulating and irregular. Gills were decurrent, a rusty brown with a whitish bloom and were distinctly forked (pic 4) with cross veins (pic 5). A thick stipe was stained brown and had hyphae at the base.

Habitat:

Spotted growing in leaf litter in area with non-native trees (deciduous)

Notes:

This is a gilled bolete, with pores arranged along gills. This mushroom appears to be an old specimen. I will attempt to take better shots of the underside next time ! For more information: http://australianfungi.blogspot.com.au/2...
