"Clusius' gentian"

Gentiana clusii

Description:

One of the most beautiful flowers from the mountains is the gentian, symbol of the mountainous areas, a perennial herb, reaching maximum 10-13 centimeters, which impresses with its beautiful blue flowers. Has a 2-centimeter long stem, a single large, blue flower in the shape of an elongated cup, and a rosette made of thick, oval and green leaves.

Habitat:

It can be found in the Carpathian Mountains, but also in the Pyrenees, the Alps and the Balkans, at altitudes of up to 1300-2700 meters. This one is spotted at altitude 1400 m, meadows and mountain pastures.

Notes:

The gentian is also known as a medicinal herb, its healing properties being valued since ancient times. In particular, its root has a good effect against wild animal bites and insect bites. Also its root has laxative properties, increasing the appetite and stimulating digestion. The gentian is also used in the production of digestive bitter and herbal liqueur. protected by the Law
