Nestor notabilis
Large species of parrot. Mostly olive green with brilliant orange under its wings. It has a large , narrow, curved, greybrown upper beak. RThe worlds only alpine parrot. Known for its intelligence and curiosity.
Spotted at Hirere Falls on the Milford Track in New Zealand. Being very sneaky trying to get to our backpacks if we weren't looking while we were having lunch.

Thanks Keith. Yes it is unique Lauren. Now uncommon, the Kea was once killed for bounty due to concerns by sheep farmers that it attacked livestock. It recieved full protection in 1986.
Such a unique parrot. Hope they aren't in danger.
Cool!
