Common Sawfly Larva

Periclista sp.

Description:

Small, green larva, pale green head with darker brown markings. White split spines. Feeds on Oak. Sawflies are a type of wasp.

Habitat:

Sears Bellows County Park, New York. Knocked out of the trees by a storm.

Notes:

I witnessed a group of these feeding on Oak on one of our hikes in this park (didn't have my camera unfortunately).
