Slime Mold

Class: Myxogastria

Description:

Minute beads of white on short black stalks, dotted over a layer of thin slime. The slime covered rocks, decaying twigs and leaves in a damp creek. Interestingly, the white fruiting bodies seem to arrange themselves along the edges of leaves, either side of twigs and along fissure lines on rocks.

Habitat:

Spotted in a damp creek bed shortly after a few days of rain.

Notes:

The white beads are fruiting bodies that contain spores. Each fruiting body would have been no more than .5 mm wide. Would love to see these in action !!
