Olive backed sunbird

Cinnyris jugularis

Description:

The males have a blue neck, the females don't.

Habitat:

Nest is woven and teardrop shaped. Can't hold in strong winds

Notes:

First picture is of the chicks. Second is an egg of the sunbird (we places it back in the nest and it hatched). Third is the nest before we stuck it on our window, but after it dropped (it was originally hanging in bougainvilleas). Fourth is the mother bird in the nest (her beak is sticking out) The nest dropped, so my class picked it up and stocked it on our window:) the bird laid eggs, it hatched and the babies. Flew away:D it was really enjoyable knowing that you saved lives.
